Rivian Automotive has partnered with Uber to fund its autonomous driving ambitions. Uber will invest up to $1.25 billion in Rivian and purchase 10,000 autonomous R2 vehicles, with an option to buy 40,000 more starting in 2030. Rivian is developing its autonomous driving capabilities and expects to have hands-free navigation by the end of the year. The deal is expected to help Rivian's software business grow and expand the market for its electric SUVs.
