Ripple vs. SEC: Hogan Predicts XRP Settlement by April
The Ripple vs. SEC case, involving the cryptocurrency XRP, has been a subject of intense scrutiny and speculation in the crypto community. As the case progresses, legal experts have begun to weigh in on potential timelines for a resolution.
Jeremy Hogan, a legal expert, recently shared his insights on the maximum timeframe for the dismissal of the Ripple vs. SEC case. In a series of posts, Hogan estimated that a settlement could occur as early as the second quarter of 2025. However, it is essential to note that this prediction is based on Hogan's intuition and not on any concrete evidence.
The recent settlement of the Coinbase case has fueled community optimism about a potential dismissal of the XRP lawsuit. In response to a query from Good Morning Crypto host Johnny Krypto, Hogan stated that the Ripple vs. SEC case could witness a settlement by the first half of April or early May. Nevertheless, Hogan clarified that this prediction is merely his intuition and not based on any concrete evidence.
The SEC's decision to drop the prolonged Coinbase lawsuit has been seen as a significant milestone in the crypto space. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong celebrated the agreement, stating that it marked the end of years of litigation and irreparable harm to the country. Jeremy Hogan sees the Coinbase suit dismissal with prejudice as a strong win, as it permanently closes the case, leaving no room for the SEC to refile it.
Hogan also noted that the SEC's bold move suggests they are not waiting for Commissioner Atkins' confirmation to take decisive action on crypto regulation. This implies that the SEC might make more crypto-friendly moves even before Atkins takes office, potentially indicating an imminent XRP lawsuit settlement.
Over the last few days, the SEC has taken significant steps towards potentially approving XRP ETFs. The SEC acknowledged XRP ETF applications submitted by multiple asset managers, including Grayscale, 21Shares, CoinShares, Bitwise, and Canary Capital. This optimistic move, coupled with the SEC's decision to drop the Coinbase case, has sparked speculations of an early XRP lawsuit settlement.
Previously, Jeremy Hogan posited that the XRP lawsuit conclusion could be possible before the SEC's approval of an XRP ETF. Although the SEC's ETF nod doesn't assure approval, it has fueled community optimism about a potential ETF launch and lawsuit dismissal
