Ripple Donates $25M in Stablecoin to Boost US Education

Ripple, a prominent player in the digital asset infrastructure sector, has announced a significant donation of $25 million in stablecoin to support education initiatives in the United States. The donation will be distributed to two major education charities, DonorsChoose and Teach For America, through Ripple’s stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD). This marks the first time these nonprofit organizations have accepted contributions through stablecoin payments.

The donation comes at a critical time when many public schools in the U.S. are facing resource constraints. Numerous studies have highlighted that many classrooms lack essential tools necessary for student success. A 2024 Gallup survey revealed that a majority of American adults and parents expressed dissatisfaction with their experiences in primary and secondary education. Ripple’s donation aims to address this educational funding shortfall by supporting various educational initiatives.

The funds will be allocated to support classroom projects, national tutoring services, STEM challenges, and financial literacy courses. These programs are designed to enhance educational outcomes and prepare students for future career opportunities. The use of stablecoin technology in this donation is noteworthy. Stablecoins are digital currencies that maintain their value by being pegged to the U.S. dollar, making them a reliable medium for transactions. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse emphasized that financial accessibility and education have been core values for Ripple since its inception.
