Ripple has announced a significant philanthropic initiative, committing $25 million to advance
equity across the United States. The bulk of this contribution will be delivered in Ripple's proprietary stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD). This donation is directed towards two prominent nonprofits—DonorsChoose and Teach For America—with the aim of supporting classrooms, innovative learning programs, and early-career throughout the 2025 academic year. The funding rollout coincides with Teacher Appreciation Week, marking the start of a year-long disbursement schedule. This initiative is designed to make a tangible impact in K–12 education. Ripple’s integration of RLUSD in this charitable effort underscores a growing trend in the philanthropic sector: using blockchain-powered digital currencies to streamline and accelerate funding distribution.
A standout feature of this philanthropic campaign is Ripple’s use of RLUSD to facilitate donations. By using its in-house stablecoin, Ripple intends to bypass traditional banking constraints and reduce delays associated with legacy payment systems. This move enhances delivery efficiency and illustrates how crypto-native tools can be used for social good beyond financial markets.
With digital assets now accounting for a significant share of blockchain-based transactions, stablecoins like RLUSD are increasingly being adopted for real-world applications, including nonprofit donations. Ripple’s latest contribution represents one of the largest stablecoin-led philanthropic efforts.
Through the partnership with DonorsChoose, thousands of educators will receive direct support to secure essential classroom supplies, creative learning tools, and project-based materials. The funding enables teachers to tailor solutions to their students’ needs, driving engagement and success at the ground level.
Simultaneously, Teach For America will allocate the Ripple donation to scale its Ignite tutoring initiative, foster new pedagogical approaches via its Reinvention Lab, and strengthen training and development for incoming cohorts of teachers entering the profession. Together, these programs aim to enhance educational outcomes and promote equity in underserved communities.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse emphasized the company’s commitment to improving financial access and educational opportunity. “We’re proud to stand alongside DonorsChoose and Teach For America to empower classrooms and educators nationwide,” Garlinghouse stated, highlighting Ripple’s long-standing mission to use technology for inclusive advancement.
This $25 million pledge is the latest in a series of global philanthropic investments by Ripple. Since 2018, the blockchain firm has allocated over $200 million toward charitable efforts, research grants, and nonprofit collaborations. Its focus spans financial inclusion, sustainability, and academic development, leveraging blockchain infrastructure to amplify social impact.
Ripple also cultivates a strong internal culture of giving. The company backs community initiatives through year-round employee volunteering, workplace giving, and other local efforts. Ripple’s use of RLUSD for charitable giving supports education and showcases blockchain’s potential in the nonprofit sector. The initiative reflects a maturing phase of crypto adoption—one where technological innovation meets real-world humanitarian needs.
