REX-Osprey Launches First U.S. ETF Offering 7.3% Solana Staking Yield
On July 2, REX-Osprey introduced the SSK – REX-Osprey SolanaSOL-- + Staking ETF, the first U.S.-listed exchange-traded fund (ETF) to offer direct staking rewards from the Solana blockchain. This innovative ETF allows investors to earn a 7.3% yield through traditional brokerage accounts, with all rewards going directly to investors as the fund managers do not take any stake fees.
The SSK ETF combines spot Solana exposure with staking mechanisms to generate blockchain-native income. This structure is designed to provide a straightforward way for institutional and retail investors to earn yields from the Solana ecosystem without the need for complex crypto infrastructure or wallets.
The ETF's structure is composed of three main parts. Approximately 50 to 60 percent of the fund’s assets are directly staked in SOL tokens. Another 40 percent is invested in exchange-traded products that also perform staking functions. The remaining allocation includes liquid staking tokens like JitoSOL. This flexible asset allocation enables the ETF to balance liquidity requirements while maintaining yield prospects, ensuring compliance with U.S. regulatory provisions by avoiding derivatives and unregistered securities.
By operating exclusively on spot assets and stake proxies, the ETF avoids the pricing distortions often associated with contracted futures. This approach guarantees stability in rewards and makes the ETF accessible to conventional investors. The launch of SSK marks a significant advancement in integrating regulated finance with decentralized yield opportunities, providing a simple way for investors to earn staking rewards on Solana.
The SSK ETF is accessible to U.S. investors under the ticker SSK, offering exposure to digital assets and the potential to generate yields. This ETF is the first of its kind to introduce on-chain staking rewards in the traditional investment market in the United States. The launch of SSK could influence future crypto-based financial products by demonstrating that blockchain rewards can be delivered through conventional financial tools.
