Rep. Thomas Massie pushes for House vote to release full Epstein files, wins bipartisan support
Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, has spearheaded a bipartisan effort to force a vote on the public release of government files related to Jeffrey Epstein. Massie, along with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), introduced the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA) on July 15, 2025, aiming to compel a House vote on the issue [2].
The EFTA requires 218 signatures from House Members to enforce a vote on the legislation. If the House does not address the issue within seven legislative days, a discharge petition will be initiated. Massie has emphasized the need for transparency, stating, "We all deserve to know what’s in the Epstein files, who’s implicated, and how deep this corruption goes" [2].
Massie's push for the vote comes as Republicans are plotting their endgame on the Epstein files and a rescissions package. The GOP is reportedly working on a plan to address the Epstein files while also aiming to rescind certain government funds [3].
Massie's efforts have gained bipartisan support, with both Democrats and Republicans backing the push for transparency. The EFTA has the potential to shed light on the extent of corruption surrounding Epstein's case, which has long been a subject of public scrutiny.
Rep. Massie recently disclosed $584.3K in fundraising and $95.7K in spending during the second quarter of 2025, with 97.1% of the funds coming from individual donors [2]. Massie's net worth is estimated at $3.1M as of July 16, 2025 [2].
