Recon Technology (RCON) completes construction of its $15 million chemical recycling plant in Shandong, China. The plant is expected to begin production by December 2025 and target $30 million in annual returns. It will convert 40,000 tons of waste plastics into high-value products annually, with a dual-process approach combining catalytic pyrolysis and catalytic reforming. The project aims to tackle the issue of "white pollution" and advance the industrialization of plastic chemical recycling.

Recon Technology Ltd. (RCON) has successfully completed the main manufacturing plant construction for its 40,000-ton-per-year waste plastic chemical recycling project in Shandong, China. The project, which has seen over $15 million in investment, marks a significant milestone in the company's efforts to advance the industrialization of plastic chemical recycling [1].

The plant, covering an area of approximately 50 acres, is set to commence operations in December 2025 following a one-month trial period. Upon full capacity, it will produce 30,000 tons of plastic pyrolysis oil and 6,000 tons of carbon residue annually, generating an estimated $30 million in annual returns [2].

The project employs a dual-process approach combining catalytic pyrolysis and catalytic reforming, utilizing a horizontal screw-type three-stage continuous reactor to address plastic coking challenges. This innovative technology is expected to significantly enhance the value and competitiveness of the pyrolysis oil [3].

Recon has engaged in discussions with several multinational chemical giants and leading domestic chemical companies, securing product purchase intent and strategic cooperation agreements. The company is also pursuing international certifications such as ISCC to bolster its global credibility in sustainable production [2].

The successful completion of the main structures of the plant underscores Recon's commitment to efficient execution and technological advancement. The company aims to transform the Shandong Recon plant into a globally leading benchmark facility for stable and continuous production of plastic chemical recycling products. By addressing the issue of "white pollution" and promoting a circular economy, Recon is poised to make a significant impact on the environmental sustainability of the plastic industry [1].
