Qualcomm (QCOM.US): Arm (ARM.US) has rescinded its threat to terminate the license agreement.
Qualcomm (QCOM.US) CEO Cristiano Amon stated on Wednesday that Arm Holdings (ARM.US) has withdrawn its threat to terminate Qualcomm's license agreement for chip technology. Arm had threatened to terminate Qualcomm's license agreement last October due to a dispute regarding Qualcomm's PC chips. Amon informed analysts during Wednesday's call: "Arm recently notified us that it will withdraw its default notice dated October 22, 2024, and indicated that there are no current plans to terminate the Qualcomm architecture license agreement." Last December, Qualcomm won a crucial part of the underlying dispute in the trial, with the jury finding that Qualcomm's PC chips were appropriately licensed under its license agreement with Arm. However, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on other issues raised in the trial, and Arm has filed a motion for a retrial.
