PumpDotFun's token $PUMP has dropped below its presale price
Pump.fun's token $PUMP has experienced a significant drop in value, falling below its presale price within a week of its initial coin offering (ICO). According to data from crypto exchange BitMEX, nearly 60% of the wallets that participated in the $PUMP presale have either sold or transferred their tokens [2].
The $PUMP token generated approximately $500 million in just 12 minutes during its TGE, with a total supply of 125 billion tokens [2]. Despite the high initial funding and a 40% increase in its presale price, the token has since experienced a 55% decline from its all-time high of $0.01214 to $0.005325 as of Thursday, July 17, 2025 [2].
The decline in $PUMP's price is attributed to several factors. First, the token's high unlock rate has led to increased short-term trading, which can put downward pressure on its price. Additionally, the declining trading volume on Pump.fun, the platform behind the token, has contributed to the price drop [2].
Pump.fun's revenue generation is also a concern. The platform's trading volume has fallen from $11.6 billion in January to $3.65 billion in June, indicating a potential decline in revenue [2]. This could put pressure on the token's long-term value if the platform continues to lose revenue.
Furthermore, Pump.fun has not provided an official explanation for the unaccounted 2.5% of the total supply that was not distributed during the public sale [2]. The lack of transparency regarding the token's distribution could potentially impact investor confidence.
Despite the challenges, Pump.fun has expressed optimism about the future of the platform and token, thanking presale participants and promising a bright future for the Solana ecosystem [2].
