Pump.fun Co-Founder Alon Cohen has dismissed rumors that the Solana (SOL)-based memecoin launchpad is planning to issue its own native token. Cohen took to the social media platform X to refute the speculations, advising his followers not to believe in any information that has not been directly confirmed by Pump.fun.
Earlier, crypto reporter Colin Wu had reported that Pump.fun was working on launching its own token and intended to use the Dutch auction system in the public offerings. Wu claimed that his team had confirmed the information with insiders from multiple centralized exchanges (CEXs) that Pump.fun was purportedly working with to develop the system.
However, Cohen maintains that the rumors are unfounded. He stated, "Seeing rumors about a potential pump fun token β these are wrong... While the Pump.fun team has mainly been focused on improving the product in its one-year history, the team has always been committed to rewarding its users properly. Good things take time!"
Wu, however, stands by his report, insisting that he has proof to support his claim. He stated, "It is almost a public fact that Pump.fun plans to issue a token using the Dutch auction inside the CEXs... The listing staff of multiple exchanges also confirmed to us that Pump.fun plans to issue a token. But the time is indeed not determined."
