Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate Kartavya Bhavan, a significant component of the Central Vista Project, on Wednesday. The building, set to be inaugurated in the national capital, is the first of several upcoming Common Central Secretariat buildings. This initiative aims to streamline administrative processes and enhance governance, embodying the government's broader administrative reform agenda [1].Kartavya Bhavan, also known as Central Secretariat Building-3, is designed to foster efficiency, innovation, and collaboration by bringing together various Ministries and Departments that are currently scattered across Delhi. The facility will house offices of key ministries such as Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, Petroleum & Natural Gas, and the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) [2].
The Central Vista Project, conceived in 2019, is an effort by the Prime Minister to leave an architectural legacy and replace the earlier mix of colonial-era architecture. Over the next two and a half years, all ten CCS buildings will be constructed, relocating ministries from Shastri Bhavan, Krishi Bhavan, Nirman Bhavan, and Udyog Bhavan to modern, hi-tech offices [3].
The new building is designed with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including IT-ready workspaces, ID card-based access controls, and solar energy systems. It is also eco-conscious, featuring zero-discharge waste management and extensive use of recycled construction material [4].
Special traffic guidelines have been implemented for Wednesday evening to facilitate the inauguration. Commuters are advised to avoid certain routes, including Janpath, Maulana Azad Road, Mansingh Road, and Rajender Prasad Road, and to make use of public transport, which will be operational during the event [1].
