President Donald Trump: Looks like we will have a Gaza deal

President Donald Trump and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan have reportedly agreed on a path to a ceasefire and lasting peace in Gaza, according to a statement from Erdogan's office . Erdogan cited the two-state solution as the key to lasting peace in the region, while Trump emphasized the need to end fighting and achieve a lasting ceasefire. Erdogan also highlighted the importance of Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa's UN address for the legitimacy of the new Syrian government.

Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas pledged to work with Trump, Saudi Arabia, France, and the UN on a Gaza peace plan at the UN General Assembly . Abbas expressed readiness to assume full responsibility for governance and security in Gaza, stating that Hamas would have no role in governance and must hand over its weapons. He also vowed that Palestinians would never abandon Gaza despite the devastation.

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff expressed confidence that a breakthrough regarding Gaza is imminent, with Trump's plan to end the war, secure hostage release, and achieve a gradual Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip . The proposal includes a 21-point peace plan for the Middle East, which Trump presented to Muslim-majority leaders during the UN General Assembly. Despite Trump's promises of a ceasefire, the deal is not yet close to being realized.
