Semiconductor startup Positron has secured $230 million in Series B funding, with investors including Qatar Investment Authority. The funds will be used to accelerate deployment of high-speed memory chips for AI workloads. The company aims to compete with Nvidia, as hyperscalers and AI firms seek alternatives. Positron's first-generation chip, Atlas, can match Nvidia's H100 GPUs for less than a third of the power. The startup plans to focus on inference computing for real-world AI applications.
