Pony AI's Q2 revenue surged 76% to $21.5 million, driven by growth in robotaxi services and licensing and applications revenues. The company's stock edged higher in early trading on Tuesday following the earnings report.
Pony AI Inc. reported a significant surge in its second-quarter (Q2) revenue, driven by robust growth in robotaxi services and licensing and applications revenues. The company's stock experienced a modest increase in early trading on Tuesday following the earnings report.
According to the company's financial results, Pony AI's Q2 revenue climbed 76% year-over-year (Y/Y) to $21.5 million, up from $12.5 million in the same period last year. This growth was primarily driven by a 158% increase in robotaxi services revenue, which reached $1.5 million, and a 12% rise in licensing and applications revenue, which amounted to $1.2 million. Additionally, the company's gross profit improved to $3.5 million, up from a loss of $41,000 in the prior year's quarter.
Mass production of the Gen-7 Robotaxis has been a key factor in Pony AI's growth trajectory. Since starting mass production two months ago, the company has produced over 200 Gen-7 Robotaxi vehicles, keeping it on track to meet the year-end goal of 1,000 vehicles. This increased production has led to improved scale and cost efficiency, contributing to the company's overall financial performance.
Pony AI's Chairman and CEO, Dr. James Peng, commented on the company's progress, stating that the quarter marked a significant milestone in its journey toward large-scale production and deployment. He noted that the company's rapid scaling and operational breakthroughs in all four tier-one cities in China, along with expanded operations in Dubai, South Korea, and Luxembourg, have positioned it to accelerate its multi-year growth trajectory in the second half of the year.
Despite the positive financial results, Pony AI's stock has risen only 3.7% this year, which may be attributed to ongoing U.S.-China tensions and a cooling electric vehicle market in China. However, the company's strong Q2 performance indicates that it is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory.
