Pi's Promise: Can Users Sell Their Mined Cryptocurrency?

The Pi Network, launched in 2019, promised a cryptocurrency that could be mined instantly on mobile devices, attracting millions of users with its "free mining" model. However, the central question remains: can users really sell the Pi they've mined?
In early 2025, Pi was listed on several exchanges, including OKX, HTX, and BitMart, sparking excitement among users. However, the Pi on the exchanges is likely not the same as the Pi in the Pi Network app, and trading is restricted to certain accounts. Withdrawals and conversion into other assets are also highly restricted, making it difficult for users to sell their Pi.
The paradox of supply and demand raises questions about who is buying Pi. Some investors may be driven by FOMO, while others may be trading bots or market makers creating fake liquidity. The Pi Network team itself may also be controlling the market, raising ethical concerns.
Even with exchange listings, most users cannot sell their Pi due to hurdles such as KYC verification, limitations on transferring Pi to exchanges, and long-term locking. The uncertainty and potential for technical glitches and policy changes have led to growing distrust in the network's long-term stability.
Given the current situation, some speculate that the Pi Network's intent is to attract millions of users for free, keep them for years with promises of future value, and monetize user engagement. However, there's no guarantee that users will be able to sell their Pi at all.
The verdict is that, in reality, it's very hard for users to sell their Pi. The vast majority of users still cannot transfer their Pi to exchanges, and there are too many obstacles given the KYC system and Pi Network guidelines. The supply far exceeds demand, and there's a high risk of market manipulation by developers.
So, the question remains: will Pi holders ever receive fair compensation for their years of "mining"? Or is it a pipe dream that will never come to fruition? Before investing time or money in any project, it's crucial to do thorough research and be cautious.
