Pi Network Releases Mainnet Migration Roadmap, Users Frustrated by Uncertainty

Pi Network has officially released its Mainnet Migration Roadmap, detailing a three-phase approach to transitioning its millions of users onto the open network. The migration process is divided into three priority-based phases, with no set timeline provided. The first phase will prioritize Know Your Customer (KYC)-verified users and reward contributions from mining, Security Circles, locked-up tokens, utility apps, and Node operators. The second phase will include referral mining bonuses, but only for those with fully KYC-verified referral teams. Ongoing periodic migrations, potentially monthly or quarterly, will follow, completing the transition for the remaining users. Over 12 million users have successfully migrated so far, a significant achievement for a new blockchain that developed its KYC and migration systems from the ground-up with zero cost to users in fiat.

Despite the structured phases, users are expressing frustration due to the lack of a tentative schedule, making it impossible for them to predict when their rewards will arrive. Many users report tapping the “claim” button daily, only to find zero rewards in their wallets. Others have received only partial transfers with no explanation. The “Transferable Balance” display in the pi app has also sparked controversy, with the project team stating it was designed to display a conservative estimate to conserve system resources.

Pi Network has clarified its tokenomics model, which operates with a limited supply of 100 billion Pi. The distribution is as follows: 65% for community mining rewards, 10% for foundation reserves, 5% for liquidity, and 20% for the Core Team. All allocations are proportional to the number of Migrated Mining Rewards, ensuring fairness throughout the transition. However, the network has not released updated figures on how many tokens have already migrated or how many users are still in the queue.

Market reactions indicate deeper issues despite the roadmap's attempt to add clarity. The price of Pi Coin fell by more than 45% in the past month, though it has rebounded slightly in recent days. A 108.9 million Pi token unlock event at the beginning of this month has added to the uncertainty, as there is no explicit connection between the unlock event and the migration schedule. This has raised questions among users about whether the project is prioritizing internal allocations over user rewards.
