"Phantom Welcomes Sui: A New Era for Move-Based Blockchains"
Phantom Wallet, a leading multichain wallet, has officially added support for Sui (SUI), a top 20 cryptocurrency token. This integration marks a significant milestone for both platforms, as Sui becomes the first Move-based blockchain network to connect with the wallet. With over 15 million monthly active users, Phantom Wallet's support for Sui will provide millions of users with direct access to the token within their wallets.
Christian Thompson, managing director of the Sui Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm about the launch, stating, "The launch of Sui as the first Move-based chain on the Phantom Wallet validates what the community has accomplished in the past year. Sui’s time has arrived, and it is clear that the ecosystem is ready to onboard the next billion users into crypto."
Beyond sending, receiving, and managing SUI, users will also have access to Sui token standard assets such as BLUE and SEND. The integration supports swaps and connects to top decentralized applications, including Suilend, Bluefin, Navi, and Aftermath.
Phantom Wallet, originally launched as a Solana (SOL)-centric wallet in 2021, has since grown to become one of the crypto market's most popular wallets. Its expansion has included features such as in-app token swaps, staking, non-fungible token storage, and multichain integration. In November 2024, the platform expanded to the layer-2 blockchain Base.
Brandon Millman, chief executive officer of Phantom, commented on the integration, "When we transformed Phantom into a multichain wallet in 2023, we did so with the commitment that only the most capable chains would be integrated into the app. Sui’s focus on scalability and its superior user experience aligns perfectly with Phantom’s goal of making crypto accessible for everyone."
Phantom Wallet recently raised $150 million in its Series C round at a $3 billion valuation. The platform announced the development on Jan. 17, noting that it received backing from venture capital firms Sequoia, Paradigm, and a16z Crypto. The wallet provider has raised a total of $268 million in VC funding.
