PayPal is giving its users in the US and select global markets early access to Perplexity's AI-powered Comet browser, part of its push to add more value inside its app. Through PayPal's in-app subscription hub, users will also get a free 12-month trial of Perplexity Pro, a perk worth $200. The partnership aims to blend payments and digital services.

PayPal Holdings, Inc. has announced that users of PayPal and Venmo in the US and select global markets will receive early access to Perplexity's AI-powered Comet browser, bypassing the waitlist. This strategic partnership aims to enhance the user experience by integrating advanced AI tools within PayPal's ecosystem.

Through PayPal's new in-app subscriptions hub, users will gain early access to Perplexity Pro, an AI-powered browser that features an integrated AI assistant, answer-focused search, and product comparison tools. This free 12-month trial is valued at $200 and is part of a broader initiative to streamline the management of recurring payments and offer bundled deals and cashback incentives.

Eligible US customers who link and pay for three subscriptions in the hub will receive $50 cashback for a limited time. The Comet browser is built on Chromium, the open-source codebase beneath Chrome, Edge, and Opera, and integrates Perplexity's AI as its default search engine, enabling users to interact with AI for various tasks.

This move is part of PayPal's ongoing efforts to blend payments and digital services, providing users with more value and convenience within the app. The new subscriptions hub is designed to make managing recurring payments simpler and more efficient, with users able to update their payment methods across multiple providers in just a few taps.

PayPal's partnership with Perplexity is expected to benefit both companies, with PayPal gaining a competitive edge by offering cutting-edge AI tools to its users, and Perplexity gaining early access to a large user base.
