Recently, global cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks announced the upcoming launch of its IoT/OT security services in China. This move, operated locally by Beijing Digital China Cloud Computing Co., Ltd., aims to tackle the increasing demand for IoT security in the region, providing comprehensive and efficient security solutions for enterprises.

As digital transformation progresses, the integration of IoT and OT technologies across industries is becoming increasingly widespread. According to a threat report by Palo Alto Networks, IoT, IoMT, and OT devices account for over 30% of network devices within enterprises. The rapid increase in connected devices has intensified the challenges facing network security, as many of these devices exhibit weak inherent security, making them prime targets for cyberattacks. This scenario is exacerbated by the expansion of the industrial IoT platform and the integration of IT and OT, leading to a broader attack surface.

Chen Wenjun, President of Palo Alto Networks Greater China, highlighted the multifaceted IoT/OT security risks faced by global and Chinese enterprises, including malware attacks, device hijacking, DDoS attacks, data breaches, device vulnerabilities, and supply chain attacks. Palo Alto Networks' solutions are designed to provide comprehensive visibility and control, alongside zero-trust architecture-based security, leveraging machine learning and AI for threat detection and response.

The IoT/OT security services slated for launch in China will offer mechanisms to thwart threats and manage risks associated with IoT, IoMT, OT, and Bluetooth devices. Utilizing machine learning techniques, these services can swiftly and accurately identify and classify all IoT devices in real-time, including previously undocumented ones. This is achieved while continuously assessing risks and recommending trust-based policies to enhance enterprise security measures.

The service will be locally operated by Digital China and will ensure compliance with Chinese regulations, storing data locally and obtaining necessary certifications. When integrated with Palo Alto Networks' next-generation firewall (NGFW) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platforms, it promises to deliver comprehensive network security.
