Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR) shares are trading higher by over 16% in the pre-market session, following a strong fourth-quarter earnings report and an upgrade from Wedbush analyst Dan Ives. The company reported fourth-quarter revenue of $827.52 million, beating the consensus estimate of $775.91 million, and adjusted earnings of 14 cents per share, surpassing analyst estimates of 11 cents per share. Ives maintained a buy rating and increased his price target to $75, representing about 13% upside compared to Monday's closing price. He noted that under a Trump Administration, major AI initiatives within the U.S. government, including the Department of Defense, would be a significant tailwind for AI players like Palantir.

Palantir's strong performance can be attributed to several factors, including its accelerating growth, strategic partnerships, and acquisitions. The company's growth has been accelerating for the past five consecutive quarters, with revenue increasing by 30% year over year in the third quarter. Palantir's AI platform, AIP, has been a significant driver of the company's growth, with U.S. commercial revenue increasing by 54% year over year. The company's customer count for its AIP platform rose by 77% year over year, pushing its remaining deal value (RDV) up by 73%. Palantir's strategic partnerships and acquisitions, such as its investment in Shield AI and its partnership with SpaceX, have also contributed to its growth and stock price appreciation.
