Palantir May Be 24%-48% Undervalued Even After Its Raised AI Guidance

Palantir now trades below fair value after the AI pullback
Palantir now sits 24% below our fair value estimate, unusual for a company that spent recent years trading at a steep premium. Morningstar says the broader reset in AI valuations has also pushed shares down more than 40% from its 2025 high.
That backdrop matters because the price decline is colliding with strong operating momentum. In Q1, PalantirPLTR-- reported 85% Q1 revenue growth, including 133% U.S. commercial growth, and raised full-year guidance by 10 points. That is not what a business under fundamental stress looks like.
The setup, then, is straightforward: sentiment has weakened faster than the underlying business. If that gap narrows, the stock could move meaningfully higher.
Why the fundamentals still look strong
Revenue visibility and expansion are holding up
The clearest support for the bull case is that Palantir is still growing rapidly while showing signs that existing customers are spending more. The company's 150% net dollar retention suggests expansion revenue remains a major driver, not just new-logo acquisition.
That distinction matters. When retention is this high, growth is not depending entirely on constant new wins. Existing customers are deepening their use of the platform, which can make revenue growth more durable.
What investors should watch next
- U.S. commercial remaining deal value staying strong or continuing to grow
- Net dollar retention holding near current levels
- Continued evidence that deployments are broadening across customer workflows
If those signals remain healthy, the operating case can hold up even while investor sentiment stays cautious.
The debate is valuation, not demand
Bulls can point to Morningstar's $153 fair value estimate. Bears can point to a 190x earnings multiple. That is the real argument here.
At that level of pricing, the stock is still being valued less like a normal software company and more like a bet on who wins at enterprise AI integration. That leaves it exposed to overreaction when market mood shifts. It does not automatically mean the business is losing traction.
Bears also have a reasonable core objection: when a stock is priced for near-perfect execution, even a modest slowdown in growth or investor enthusiasm can pressure the multiple before the business itself weakens.
Sentiment is still mixed
Social commentary remains split. One recent comment said it was waiting 90/100 zone to buy Pltr, which shows how emotional the debate has become. For some investors, the selloff is a buying opportunity. For others, it is confirmation that the stock was always too rich.

What could drive the rerating
Morningstar still sees a $153 fair value estimate, which implies 24% below our fair value estimate from current levels. Separately, a model cited in recent coverage points to a $162.13 target, or about 20.36% upside. On the more aggressive side, the same coverage outlines a $203 bull case.
Taken together, that suggests a practical upside range of roughly 20% to 50%, depending on whether the stock moves from sentiment repair toward a fuller rerating.
Confirmation would come from the operating data
The cleanest confirmation would be another guidance raise, continued strength in U.S. commercial growth, and no deterioration in forward visibility metrics. If those catalysts stack up, investors get a firmer reason to close the gap between price and value.
What would break the case
The main risk is straightforward: if operating momentum cools in a stock still priced for exceptional growth, the multiple can compress before the business does. That is why this is not a blind bullish call. It is a case for watching whether the discount to fair value starts to narrow as fundamentals remain firm.
