In a strategic move beyond its cosmetics and skin care focus, Pacific Software Inc. (Pacific) has announced the acquisition of a science-based dietary supplement aimed at boosting memory function and supporting brain health. The supplement, sold under the brands SuppleMEM AD™ and A.L.Z. Defense™, boasts a formula tested extensively by leading Alzheimer's researchers.
The acquisition of this established product line not only adds another revenue stream to Pacific but also signifies a significant expansion of its business model [1]. Prior to this, the company had primarily focused on the cosmetics and skin care sectors, having licensed a patented technology for stimulating collagen production.
The core formula within A.L.Z. Defense™ is a combination of safe, natural products designed to support essential aspects of memory, such as neuroplasticity. The formula was evaluated in two large-scale laboratory experiments funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease, a study conducted at the University of California, Irvine, showed that the supplement significantly improved memory performance and reduced amyloid beta plaque levels, a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease [2]. Another study conducted at the University of Kentucky tested the formula in beagles, which develop the disease late in life, and observed similar results [3].
With quotes in hand, Pacific is currently in the process of obtaining necessary approvals to manufacture and distribute the A.L.Z. Defense™ supplement in both the United States and Mexico. The company anticipates the distribution of the product in both countries to commence in the third quarter of 2024.
