Residents of Anna Nagar have flagged effluent pollution in the Otteri Nullah Canal, citing a strong chemical odor and poor air quality. The Federation of Anna Nagar Residents' Associations called for the GCC to expedite the rejuvenation project, which includes desilting, strengthening canal walls, and infrastructure upgrades, worth ₹65 crore. The association also demanded work on a retaining wall on 6th Avenue and diversion of floodwater from North Avenue Canal to Coovum River.
