Oracle's Earnings Boost Ellison's Net Worth by 20% to $250.9 Billion

Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison has ascended to the second-richest person in the world, following a significant surge in his net worth. This increase was driven by the soaring stocks of his cloud-computing business, which resulted in a $40 billion gain. Ellison's net worth now stands at $250.9 billion, surpassing both Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg in the billionaires club. However, he still trails behind his close friend Elon Musk, who remains the wealthiest individual with a fortune of $405.8 billion.
Ellison's remarkable rise was fueled by Oracle's recent earnings report, which triggered a substantial increase in the company's shares. With approximately 41% of Oracle’s shares in his name, Ellison saw his net worth climb by over $40 billion in just a few days. On Thursday last week, his fortune grew by $25 billion, and increased by another $16 billion on Friday, marking two of the largest daily increases in billionaire net worth that week.
Oracle's earnings report for the 2025 fiscal year revealed an 8% increase in total revenue, reaching $57.4 billion. The company's adjusted earnings per share of $1.70 exceeded expectations, along with unprecedented sales of $15.9 billion. Following the release of these figures, Oracle's stock soared by 13% the next day and rose another 7% by midafternoon Friday, reaching a record of $215 per share. This stock frenzy resulted in an 11-figure surge in Ellison's net worth, which stood at $213 billion the day before the earnings report was released.
While Ellison's current position is impressive, the volatility of billionaires' wealth is well-known. For instance, Bernard Arnault, the founder and CEO of luxury fashion house LVMH, was the world’s richest person at the start of 2024 with $231 billion but has since dropped to seventh place with a net worth of $142 billion due to tumbling stocks. However, analysts predict that Oracle's 2026 fiscal year will be a significant turning point for the company's cloud infrastructure services, driven by the massive demand for AI training workloads. Ellison himself is optimistic about the future, stating that Oracle will be the number one cloud database company.
Looking ahead, Ellison sees the next year as a new frontier for Oracle, which could mean another substantial payout for the executive. Despite his success, Ellison remains close friends with Elon Musk, who is currently the world's wealthiest person. The two entrepreneurs share a strong bond, with Ellison repeatedly defending Musk against public criticism and even serving on Tesla's board. Their friendship highlights the interconnected nature of the tech industry and the mutual support among its leading figures.
