Amazon EMR 7.10 runtime introduces EMR S3A, an improved S3 file system connector, which is now the default for all deployment options. EMR S3A shows comparable read performance to EMRFS and a 7% improvement in static partition overwrites and a 215% improvement in dynamic partition overwrites compared to EMRFS in write operations. A controlled testing environment was used to evaluate the performance of EMR S3A compared to EMRFS and the open source S3A file system connector.
