Optiemus Infracom Expects Rs 2,000 cr Revenue from Tempered Glass Screen Protectors by 2027

Optiemus Infracom, a leading electronics manufacturer, expects revenue of Rs 1,800-2,000 crore in FY2027 from its tempered glass screen protectors business. The company launched RhinoTech, a Made-in-India tempered glass screen protector using Corning glass, which offers enhanced hygienic benefits like anti-microbial glass. RhinoTech will be manufactured at Optiemus' Noida facility and will cater to both domestic and international markets.

Electronics contract manufacturer Optiemus Infracom has set its sights on a significant revenue target of Rs 1,800-2,000 crore from its tempered glass screen protectors business by FY2027. The company, in collaboration with US-based Corning, has launched RhinoTech, a Made-in-India tempered glass screen protector that offers enhanced hygienic benefits such as anti-microbial properties. The screen protectors will be manufactured at Optiemus' facility in Noida and are expected to cater to both domestic and international markets.

The launch of RhinoTech comes at a time when the demand for tempered glass screen protectors is projected to surge to Rs 20,000 crore by 2025, with an expected shipment of 400 million pieces [1]. Currently, over 90% of the demand is met through low-cost imports, leading to inconsistent quality and an unorganized market. Optiemus aims to address this gap by providing high-quality, locally made screen protectors.

The screen protectors will be available in the market from September 2025, ahead of the festive season. Initially, Optiemus will target the premium end of the smartphone market. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has also announced a standard for "chemically tempered glass screen protectors" through a Gazette notification on July 28th [2].

Ashok Gupta, chairman of Optiemus Infracom, expressed the company's commitment to establishing India as a global hub for high-value mobile accessories. He stated, "It is our aspiration that every Indian mobile phone user enjoys the assurance of Make in India tempered glass screen protector, certified by BIS and marked with a fog stamp for the highest quality and protection."

Sudhir Pillai, managing director of Corning India, echoed this sentiment, stating, "We are excited to work with Optiemus to help offer Indian consumers the choice of a screen protector that is marked as Engineered by Corning. We believe that this development will support the country's growing need for providing screen protectors for the mobile consumer electronics industry."
