OPAL Fuels (Nasdaq: OPAL) reported its financial and operating results for the second quarter of 2025, highlighting a significant increase in renewable natural gas (RNG) production and robust revenue growth. The company's co-CEOs, Adam Comora and Jonathan Maurer, expressed satisfaction with the results and optimism about future performance.
Revenue for the three and six months ended June 30, 2025, was $80.5 million and $165.9 million, respectively, marking a 13% and 22% increase compared to the prior-year period. Net income for the same period was $7.6 million and $8.8 million, up 280% and 185%, respectively. Basic and diluted net income per share attributable to Class A common shareholders improved to $0.03 and $0.02 from $(0.01) and $(0.02) in the same period last year.
RNG production was 1.2 million and 2.3 million MMBtu for the three and six months ended June 30, 2025, representing a 33% and 35% year-over-year increase, respectively. The Fuel Station Services segment sold, dispensed, and serviced an aggregate of 40.8 million and 81.4 million GGEs of transportation fuel, up 11% and 14% year-over-year.
Co-CEO Adam Comora noted the strengthening bipartisan support for biofuels, citing the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which extends the 45Z production tax credit through 2029. Despite some volatility in RIN prices, the company remains encouraged by the EPA's positive engagement in administering the Renewable Fuel Standard.
The company expects continued improvement in its operating and financial results throughout the balance of 2025, in line with its guidance. OPAL Fuels is investing in a sustainable operating platform and technologies to scale with its growth, further expanding upon its vertically integrated model.
The Atlantic RNG project is on track to commence commercial operations in the third quarter of 2025, while the Burlington and Cottonwood RNG projects are expected to begin operations in 2026. The Kirby RNG project in California is slated to commence operations in 2027.
