Online Mattress Buyers Report Higher Satisfaction and Value Than In-Store Purchasers, J.D. Power Study Finds

According to the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Mattress Satisfaction Study, online mattress shoppers spend an average of $984, $258 less than in-store buyers, and report a higher overall satisfaction score of 878. Retail shoppers consistently rate the value received for price paid lower than online shoppers, presenting an opportunity for brick-and-mortar retailers to improve communication of the benefits of in-store shopping. Sleep Number ranks highest in customer satisfaction for online purchases, and Sleep Number and Purple rank highest for retail purchases.
