ONEOK, Enbridge, MPLX, and WhiteWater are investing in a new 450-mile natural gas pipeline, the Eiger Express Pipeline, which will transport up to 2.5 million cubic feet per day of natural gas from the Permian Basin to the Katy area near Houston. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2028 and will provide stable income to its owners. ONEOK will be the biggest beneficiary with a 25.5% interest in Eiger, adding to its growth wave in 2028.

ONEOK, Enbridge, MPLX, and WhiteWater have announced a significant investment in the development of the Eiger Express Pipeline, a 450-mile natural gas pipeline designed to transport up to 2.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas from the Permian Basin to the Katy area near Houston, Texas. The project, which is expected to be completed by mid-2028, is supported by firm transportation agreements with contract terms of 10 years or longer [1].

The Eiger Express Pipeline, a joint venture owned 70% by the Matterhorn JV, 15% by ONEOK, and 15% by MPLX, is set to provide much-needed transportation capacity out of the highly productive Permian Basin. ONEOK, with a 25.5% interest in the pipeline, stands to be the biggest beneficiary, adding to its growth wave in 2028 [1].

The pipeline will source natural gas from processing facilities owned by ONEOK and MPLX, as well as pipeline connections in the Midland and Delaware basins. It holds reserved capacity for deliveries to the Corpus Christi, Texas, market, further enhancing its strategic value [1].

WhiteWater, the infrastructure company constructing and operating the pipeline, is expected to complete the project by mid-2028, pending receipt of customary regulatory and other approvals [2]. The project's success hinges on securing the necessary regulatory approvals and maintaining strong demand for natural gas transportation in the region.

The Eiger Express Pipeline represents a strategic investment in the natural gas transportation sector, aiming to meet growing demand for electricity generation and international liquified natural gas (LNG) exports. The project's firm transportation agreements and reserved capacity indicate a strong commitment from the partners involved, suggesting a stable income stream for the pipeline's owners.
