Ondo Finance has launched its tokenized equity platform, Ondo Global Markets, offering non-U.S. investors access to over 100 U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the
blockchain. This development marks a significant advancement in the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs), enabling investors from regions such as Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, and Latin America to and redeem shares 24/7 during trading days, with access to underlying exchange liquidity. The tokens, which represent on-chain versions of traditional financial assets, are backed by securities held at U.S.-registered broker-dealers, ensuring regulatory compliance and asset authenticity [1].The launch includes tokenized versions of high-profile equities such as
(AAPL) and (NVDA), alongside the QQQ ETF. The tokens are designed to be transferable between wallets, exchanges, and DeFi protocols, facilitating broader utility within the crypto ecosystem. Ondo Finance has partnered with infrastructure providers like BitGo, Ledger, and to support the platform’s launch, ensuring secure and reliable operations [1]. This initiative is part of a broader trend in the financial and crypto sectors, with platforms such as , Gemini, and Kraken also exploring or launching tokenized equity products.Ondo Finance has outlined plans to expand the offering to more than 1,000 assets by the end of 2025. The platform is also set to expand its support to other blockchain networks, including
and Chain, with interoperability facilitated by LayerZero technology. This expansion aims to enhance accessibility and liquidity for tokenized securities, supporting the growing demand for on-chain financial products [1]. The Ondo token (ONDO), the governance token for the Ondo DAO and Flux Finance protocol, has seen a recent uptick in value, trading at around $0.94 and showing a 4% increase in the last 24 hours [2].The introduction of tokenized equities comes amid increasing regulatory clarity in the U.S. for crypto-native financial products. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been working toward unifying the licensing of traditional securities and tokenized assets, a move that aligns with Ondo Finance’s strategy of bridging traditional finance with blockchain technology. The platform’s tokenized U.S. Treasuries, already available on Ethereum, have reached a value of over $7 billion, with Ondo issuing more than $1 billion in these instruments [2]. This growth underscores the potential of tokenization to enhance the efficiency and transparency of capital markets.
Ondo Finance’s CEO, Nathan Allman, emphasized that the platform is continuing the trend set by stablecoins, which have facilitated the on-chain movement of U.S. dollars. “Now, Ondo Global Markets is doing the same thing for U.S. securities,” Allman stated, highlighting the broader implications for global capital access and liquidity. As the tokenization of real-world assets gains momentum, Ondo Finance aims to establish itself as a key player in this emerging market, offering innovative financial tools to both institutional and retail investors [1].
