OKX Opens Pre-Market Gates for MON, MET-But Will Spot Listings Follow?

OKX has announced the pre-market listing of perpetual futures for MON (Monad) and MET (Meteora), set to debut on October 10, 2025[1]. The exchange will offer USDT-margined perpetual contracts for both tokens, with MON/USDT trading commencing at 8:00 am UTC and MET/USDT at 8:15 am UTC. These contracts are designed to facilitate price discovery for new cryptocurrencies before their official spot market listings. OKX emphasizes that pre-market futures may not guarantee eventual spot listing and could be suspended at any time[1].
The MON contract is based on the MON/USDT index, with a face value of 10 MON and a tick size of 0.00001. The MET contract follows a similar structure, with a face value of 1 MET and a tick size of 0.0001. Both contracts offer leverage ranging from 0.01x to 5x and a fixed daily funding rate of 0.03%. Trading will be available 24/7, with funding settlements occurring every 4 hours[1]. Position limits are tiered, with maximum open positions increasing as users progress through four tiers, capped at 30,000 contracts for tier 3 and higher for tier 4[1].
Monad, the blockchain underpinning the MON token, positions itself as a Layer 1 network compatible with the EthereumETH-- Virtual Machine (EVM), aiming to enhance scalability over existing platforms. Meteora, represented by MET, is a decentralized exchange focused on SolanaSOL-- and DeFi ecosystems, emphasizing secure and sustainable liquidity infrastructure. OKX's pre-market futures allow traders to engage with these projects early, though the exchange cautions that market prices may diverge from eventual listing prices due to pre-market dynamics[1].
Hyperliquid, another exchange, also announced a pre-market listing for MON-USD perpetuals on October 8, 2025. This move aligns with growing interest in Monad, which is speculated to prepare for an airdrop, with its fully diluted valuation (FDV) estimated at $13 billion based on trading activity. The token's pre-market performance on Hyperliquid recorded $28 million in 24-hour volume.
OKX's pre-market futures are subject to specific risk factors, including uncertainty around token supply and issuance schedules, which could amplify price volatility. The exchange advises users to monitor market conditions and exercise caution, noting that pre-market contracts are not guaranteed to transition to standard perpetual futures. Conversion dates will be announced separately once spot listings are confirmed[1].
The introduction of MON and MET perpetuals reflects OKX's strategy to provide early access to emerging projects, leveraging its position as a leading derivatives platform. With over 200 cryptocurrencies already listed, OKX continues to expand its offerings to cater to traders seeking exposure to high-potential tokens. The exchange's tiered margin requirements and funding mechanisms aim to balance flexibility with risk management, particularly for high-leverage positions[1].
