Oklo signs MOU with ABB, opens training center

Oklo Inc. ("Oklo"), a leading advanced nuclear technology company, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ABB, a global leader in electrification and automation. This strategic partnership is aimed at advancing the deployment of Oklo's Aurora powerhouses and establishing a new training center equipped with ABB technology.

The MOU, signed on July 02, 2025, marks a significant milestone for Oklo as it continues to progress towards the commercial readiness of its Aurora powerhouses. The digital monitoring room, which will serve as the anchor for Oklo's operator training and simulation center, will be equipped with ABB's state-of-the-art technology. This room is designed to support simulation, training, and licensing preparation, crucial components of Oklo's commercial readiness strategy.

Oklo's Aurora powerhouses are designed to rely on automation and inherent safety features, allowing operators to behave more like monitors than traditional operators. This innovative approach is enabled by the Aurora design's advanced safety profile and operational simplicity. The new training center will leverage this design to prepare operators for the future of nuclear power.

The MOU also reflects Oklo's recent regulatory milestone with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's acceptance of its Product-Based Operator Licensing Framework Topical Report for review. This report proposes a technology-based licensing framework that departs from the traditional model, enabling operators to be licensed for the Aurora powerhouse design itself. This approach allows operators to monitor multiple plants from a central location, leveraging the Aurora design's automation and inherent safety features.

Through the MOU, Oklo and ABB intend to explore broader collaboration opportunities, including digitalization, automation, and electrification of future powerhouse sites, as well as joint research and development related to data center integration and advanced energy systems. This strategic partnership highlights the importance of innovation and collaboration in the advancement of nuclear power technologies.

ABB's support for Oklo's mission is a reflection of its commitment to low-carbon energy sources. "As global demand for energy continues to rise, we at ABB support a wide range of low-carbon sources, including nuclear," said Per Erik Holsten, President of ABB’s Energy Industries. "Innovation and collaboration are essential, and working with companies like Oklo allows us to apply proven technology in ways that strengthen the safe and efficient operation of advanced energy systems."

Oklo's recent achievements, including receiving a site use permit from the U.S. Department of Energy for a commercial advanced fission plant and being awarded fuel from Idaho National Laboratory, underscore its commitment to delivering clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale. The company is also developing advanced fuel recycling technologies in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. National Laboratories.

Oklo's forward-looking statements highlight potential risks and uncertainties, including the deployment of its powerhouses, regulatory uncertainties, and the potential need for financing. Investors are advised to carefully consider these risks and uncertainties when evaluating Oklo's prospects.
