U.S. Oil and Gas Rig Count Increases, Down 6.3% from Last Year

The US oil and gas drilling rig count rose by 2 to 548 in the latest Baker Hughes report, marking the third increase in four weeks. However, the count is down 37 rigs, or 6.3%, from last year at this time. Despite the increase, the count remains below the pre-pandemic level of 601 rigs in March 2020.
