Nvidia recently disclosed that its robotic technology stack has attracted over two million developers since the launch of its Jetson platform in 2014. The ecosystem, comprising more than 150 hardware, software, and sensor partners, continues to expand, aiding over 7,000 customers across various industries in deploying edge AI technology.
The American AI giant has unveiled the
Jetson Thor platform, designed for physical AI and humanoid robots. This platform is compatible with mainstream AI frameworks and generative AI models, synergizing with Nvidia's full-stack software solutions, including its Isaac platform for robot simulation and development, the GR00T humanoid robot baseline model, Metropolis visual AI solutions, and Holoscan real-time sensor processing tools. This technological advancement underscores Nvidia's strategic commitment to the robotics arena. By integrating hardware ecosystems and software tool chains, Nvidia is building a comprehensive solution from development to deployment. The Jetson series, which started as a single computing module, has evolved into a multi-dimensional system encompassing simulation, perception, and decision-making. The introduction of the Thor platform is expected to bolster its market position in industrial automation and service robotics.
Moreover, Nvidia is accelerating its venture into the humanoid robot market, collaborating with key partner Foxconn to prepare production lines, aiming for a public debut in November. Sources suggest Foxconn will concurrently produce humanoid robots and the advanced Blackwell Ultra GB300 AI servers in its US plants. This initiative signifies Nvidia’s potential entry into the AI robotics domain within months.
Nvidia's emphasis on "physical AI" is becoming increasingly recognized, setting humanoid robots alongside AI computing power as pivotal components for future growth. This development signifies a bold progression in AI hardware, positioning robots as transformative agents in everyday, commercial, and professional spheres. As these humanoid robots undergo training in industrial scenarios, the collaboration between Nvidia and Foxconn is drawing widespread attention for its prospective impact. Nvidia's endeavors in this space could soon become a significant growth catalyst.
