Nvidia, UAE Launch Middle East's First AI Center

Nvidia, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Technology Innovation Institute (TII), has established the Middle East's first Nvidia AI technology center in the United Arab Emirates. This center aims to jointly develop next-generation artificial intelligence models and robotics platforms, marking a significant step for the chip giant in the Middle East region.

The joint research center will combine TII's multidisciplinary research capabilities with Nvidia's powerful AI models and computing power. The center will utilize Nvidia's specialized "Thor" chip to advance research in areas such as humanoid robots, quadruped robots, and mechanical arms. This collaboration is part of the UAE government's efforts to become a global player in the AI field. As a major oil exporter, the UAE has invested tens of billions of dollars in AI in recent years, aiming to leverage its close relationship with the United States to gain access to advanced technologies.

The core technological highlight of this collaboration is the use of Nvidia's "Thor" chip. The joint laboratory will focus on several cutting-edge areas. In addition to breakthroughs in specific robotics projects such as humanoid robots, quadruped robots, and mechanical arms, the two parties will also jointly explore the application of AI in fields such as climate, energy, and genomics. The statement also noted that specific robotics innovation use cases have been planned for industries such as transportation and logistics.

This cooperation is a key part of the UAE's strategy to become a global AI player.
