Entering the new year, chip giant Nvidia continues to show its strength in AI chip innovation.
Yesterday, Nvidia officially launched the new GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series consumer graphics card aimed at gamers and creators and highlighted the ACE AI, the generative AI model that is capable of bringing realistic characters to games and applications.
Upon the news, Nvidia's share price closed at $522.53, up 6.4% and marking a historical high with a total market value of $1.29 trillion. Nvidia's performance also led to a surge in U.S. chip stocks, with AMD's full-day gain exceeding 5%, and Intel's full-day gain exceeding 3%. Over the past year, driven by the global AI boom, Nvidia's stock has risen more than 230%.
Today, NVIDIA is at the center of the latest technology transformation: generative AI, Nvidia GeForce Senior Vice President Jeff Fisher said.
Nvidia introduced the new GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series, including three GPUs - the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4070 Super. These GPUs, which offer performance upgrades over their previous versions, compete directly with AMD's low-cost high-end chips.
The highest-end model, the RTX 4080 SUPER supports 4K panoramic ray tracing games and performs 1.4 times faster than the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, which does not support DLSS frame generation technology.
According to NVIDIA, the RTX 4080 SUPER will go on sale on January 31st with a starting price of $999. The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER will go on sale on January 24th with a starting price of $799. For consumers, the best cost-effective choice might be the RTX 4070 SUPER which will be available from January 17th with a starting price of $599.
Nvidia's Vice President Justin Walker emphasized at the conference that the newly launched graphics cards comply with export control requirements and will also be available to Chinese consumers.
Fisher announced that major OEM manufacturers will introduce a range of new RTX laptops at the conference. He stated, Thanks to powerful RT and Tensor Cores, every RTX laptop is AI-ready for the best gaming and AI experiences.
Additionally, Nvidia launched the ACE AI model that day, aiming to assist users in making digital virtual characters lifelike with generative AI technology, capable of running in the cloud or on local PCs. Active users of ACE include Convai, Charisma.AI, Inworld, MiHoYo, and NetEase Games.
Furthermore, the Nvidia RTX Remix application will roll out its beta version on January 22nd. With RTX Remix, game mod creators can use panoramic ray tracing, DLSS, NVIDIA Reflex, and generative AI texture tools to remake classic games, transforming basic textures into physically accurate 4K high-precision materials.
