NVIDIA has recently experienced a wave of stock sell-offs by its insiders, amounting to over $500 million throughout the month of June. This development comes amid the company's stock price surge, fueled by investor enthusiasm for advancements in artificial intelligence, which pushed NVIDIA's share price to record highs.
NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang, has been at the center of this activity. According to filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Huang has sold 300,000 shares since June 20, generating nearly $44.9 million. The transactions executed by Huang are part of a trading plan under the SEC's 10b5-1 rule, allowing corporate executives to set up a predetermined plan to sell their stock while avoiding accusations of insider trading. His plan, disclosed in March, allows him to sell a total of 6 million shares by 2025.
Mark Stevens, a member of NVIDIA's board, also sold over 600,000 shares in mid-June, cashing in more than $88 million. Stevens had previously filed a plan to sell up to 4 million shares and has completed selling more than 2 million shares so far.
Ben Silverman, Vice President of Research at VerityData, noted that Jensen Huang’s decision to refrain from selling during the downturn in the first quarter was quite prudent. His decision to offload shares as the stock rebounded indicates a strategic move, prompted, according to reports, when NVIDIA's stock crossed the $150 mark.
These insider transactions coincide with
