NVIDIA recently announced a strategic partnership with India's second-largest conglomerate, Reliance Industries, and introduced a Hindi language model. This collaboration is part of NVIDIA’s plan to expand its AI infrastructure in India, reflecting the growing importance of the Indian market for global tech giants.

The newly launched model, Nemotron-4-Mini-Hindi-4B, is designed to serve businesses aiming to develop their own AI models. It boasts 4 billion parameters and is optimized for Hindi, India's most widely spoken language. This model is trained using real-world and synthetic Hindi data, alongside an equivalent amount of English data, offering a tailored solution at a reduced cost compared to larger models.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the company's commitment to the region during the AI Summit in Mumbai, stating that NVIDIA’s computing capabilities in India will expand nearly 20-fold compared to the previous year. This move underscores NVIDIA’s strategy to invest heavily in computing infrastructure within the country.

Among the early adopters, Tech Mahindra is set to leverage NVIDIA's technology to develop AI models like Indus 2.0, with a focus on Hindi and its diverse dialects. This initiative aligns with the broader trend in India, where companies from startups to major corporations are utilizing AI models that cater to the multitude of local languages, enhancing consumer engagement.

Moreover, NVIDIA is collaborating with leading Indian IT firms like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro to train approximately 500,000 developers in AI software design and deployment, signaling a significant push to cultivate AI expertise nationwide.

This collaboration and model launch mark a significant step for NVIDIA as it reinforces its presence in the Indian market—one that is rapidly advancing in AI technology and infrastructure. With India's semiconductor industry on the rise, and efforts to build its capabilities further, NVIDIA's investments and partnerships are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the country's digital future.
