Ladies and Gentlemen, BUYERS BEWARE! The Trump administration is on a rampage, and this time, it's nurses who are sounding the alarm. National Nurses United (NNU) has just submitted formal objections to four Department of Labor regulations that could strip workers of their hard-won rights and protections. This is a full-blown assault on labor, and it's time to take action!
WHAT'S AT STAKE?
1. CIVIL RIGHTS AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY: The administration wants to rescind Executive Order 11246, which enforces anti-discrimination and affirmative action obligations for federal contractors. This is a massive gift to profiteering corporations and a slap in the face to the Civil Rights Movement. Without these protections, federal contractors could create policies that result in systemic discrimination and occupational segregation. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!
2. DISABILITY RIGHTS: The proposed rules would rescind the 2016 regulations that ensured equal employment opportunity for workers with disabilities. This is a disgraceful effort to eliminate protections for disabled workers, who have long struggled for equal rights. STAND UP FOR DISABILITY RIGHTS!
3. AGRICULTURAL WORKERS: The administration is targeting temporary agricultural workers (H-2A visas) by rescinding critical health, safety, and labor protections. These workers are some of the most vulnerable in our economy, and this regulation would make them even more susceptible to exploitation. FIGHT FOR FARMWORKERS' RIGHTS!
4. HOME CARE WORKERS: The proposed rule would strip minimum wage and overtime protections from home care workers, reverting to an obsolete definition of "companionship services." This would lead to increased poverty and precarity for an already vulnerable workforce, predominantly women, people of color, and immigrants. PROTECT HOME CARE WORKERS!
THE BIG PICTURE
These regulations are part of a broader attack on workers' rights by the Trump administration. From rescinding the minimum wage for federal contractors to delaying worker safety rules, the administration is rolling back decades of progress. This is a direct attempt to overturn the most basic labor rights for American workers, dating back to the National Labor Relations Act of 1935. DO NOT LET THEM TURN BACK THE CLOCK!
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1. STAY INFORMED: Keep up with the latest developments and share this information with your friends, family, and colleagues. Knowledge is power, and we need to be informed to fight back.
2. SPEAK OUT: Contact your representatives and let them know that you oppose these regulations. Your voice matters, and elected officials need to hear from you.
3. SUPPORT UNIONS: Join or support unions that are fighting for workers' rights. Together, we are stronger, and we can make a difference.
4. TAKE ACTION: Attend rallies, protests, and other events organized by labor and community organizations. Show your support and stand up for workers' rights.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a critical moment for workers' rights. The Trump administration is on the warpath, and it's up to us to fight back. Stand with National Nurses United and demand that the Department of Labor protect workers' rights. DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS!
