Nuro, a company in the autonomous vehicle sector, has partnered with Lucid Group and Uber Technologies to deploy at least 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro's L4 autonomous driving system. This deal is a significant milestone for Nuro and highlights the growing demand for autonomous vehicles. Nuro's technology enables vehicles to operate without human intervention, and this partnership could help accelerate the adoption of autonomous vehicles in the market.

A significant milestone in the autonomous vehicle sector has been achieved with the recent partnership between Lucid Group, Nuro, and Uber Technologies. The collaboration aims to deploy at least 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro's Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving system over the next six years [1].

The partnership, announced on July 17, 2025, is set to revolutionize the robotaxi market by combining the industry-leading software-defined vehicle architecture of the Lucid Gravity, the scalability and proven capability of the Nuro Driver™ Level 4 autonomy system, and Uber’s vast global network and dynamic fleet management [1].

Uber Technologies, Inc., aims to deploy these vehicles in dozens of markets around the world, with the first launch expected in a major US city next year. The Lucid Gravity vehicles, owned and operated by Uber or its third-party fleet partners, will be exclusively available via the Uber platform [1].

The Lucid Gravity is an ideal fit for a scalable robotaxi offering due to its advanced technology platform, redundant electrical and controls architectures, and long range. The Nuro Driver, which enables the Lucid Gravity to operate at Level 4 autonomy, integrates an end-to-end AI model with safeguards for precision and reliability, allowing for rapid adaptation to new environments and functions [1].

Uber's extensive network, with operations in 70 countries and an average of 34 million trips per day, will facilitate the widespread adoption of autonomous vehicles. The Lucid Gravity’s 450-mile EPA estimated range means less frequent downtime for charging, minimizing costs and maximizing vehicle availability [1].

The partnership also signifies a deepening relationship between the three companies, with Uber planning to make multi-hundred-million dollar investments in both Nuro and Lucid. This strategic move validates Lucid's advanced vehicle architecture and Nuro's AI-first autonomy system, positioning them to lead the market in autonomous driving technology [1].

This collaboration underscores the growing demand for autonomous vehicles and highlights the potential of combining proven technology with a global platform to make self-driving vehicles accessible and beneficial to a broader audience. The first Lucid-Nuro robotaxi prototype is already operating autonomously on a closed circuit at Nuro’s Las Vegas proving grounds, demonstrating the readiness of the technology for real-world deployment [1].
