NIO Unveils New ES8 Model, Sets 2025 High

The new ES8 features a 900-volt high-voltage platform with a 102 kWh battery pack, supporting a charging rate of up to 5C and a 3-minute quick battery swap for a fully charged battery pack. The vehicle is built on a larger platform, transitioning from a mid-to-large SUV to a large SUV, with dimensions of 5,280 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,250 mm [1].

NIO has priced the new ES8 under its Battery as a Service (BaaS) plan at RMB 416,800 for the six-seat Executive Premium Edition and RMB 456,800 for the seven-seat Executive Signature Edition. The starting price for the base ES8 is lower than the starting price for the Tesla Model Y L six-seat SUV [2].

The ES8 is highlighted for its premium materials, bespoke interiors, and airplane-style zero-gravity seating configurations. It is powered by NIO's latest 900V high-voltage architecture, a 102 kWh battery, and dual motors producing 520 kW and 700 N·m of torque, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 3.97 seconds and a CLTC range of up to 635 km [2].

The unveiling of the ES8 has boosted NIO shares, with the stock up 9.8% at 2:10 p.m. to trade at its highest level of 2025. The short interest on NIO stands at 8.5% of the total float [2].
