The new model features a 100-kWh battery and a presale price starting at $58,030. CEO William Li underscored the importance of maintaining competitive pricing for the company's survival, as seen in the aggressive pricing strategy for the ES8 [3].
The new ES8 is designed to compete with other large electric SUVs in the market. It offers a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system, a 900-volt architecture, and a range of up to 635 km on a single charge. The vehicle's dimensions have been upgraded, with a length of 5,280 mm, a width of 2,010 mm, and a height of 1,800 mm, along with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm. Both six-seat and seven-seat configurations are available [1].
The interior of the ES8 has been redesigned with a 48-inch "Skyline display," a 16.4-inch AMOLED center screen, and a 38-inch AR-HUD with blind spot projection. The SUV also features a three-spoke steering wheel, stalk-mounted gear selector, dual wireless phone chargers, and piezoelectric ceramic micro-motion buttons. The six-seat version includes second-row seats that recline up to 151 degrees and support leg extension heating. Additional features include five-zone climate control, folding tables, a refrigerator, a 27-speaker, 2,600-watt Dolby Atmos audio system, and a 21.4-inch rear ceiling-mounted display with 3K resolution [1].
In terms of market performance, Nio's July deliveries fell to 21,017 units, a significant decrease from the previous month's figures. The company is expected to provide further clarity on its financial health when it reports its Q2 2025 earnings on September 2. Nio Inc. delivered 72,056 vehicles in the second quarter, within the guidance range of 72,000 to 75,000 vehicles. Deliveries for the quarter increased by 25.59 percent year-on-year and by 71.18 percent quarter-on-quarter [2].
