NIO’s Firefly Brand Partners with HERE Technologies for Smart and Connected EV Journeys

NIO's firefly brand has partnered with HERE Technologies to provide high-quality map data and location services for its electric vehicles. The collaboration will enhance advanced driver assistance and safety functions, including Intelligent Speed Assistance within the European Union. HERE will also provide seamless in-car navigation, including real-time traffic updates, through its partnership with Telenav Inc. This will improve the safety, efficiency, and overall driving experience of firefly's intelligent EVs.

NIO's sub-brand Firefly has announced a strategic partnership with HERE Technologies, a leading provider of location data and technology solutions. This collaboration aims to enhance the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and overall driving experience of Firefly's electric vehicles (EVs), particularly within the European Union.

HERE Technologies will supply Firefly with high-quality map data and location services, including connected navigation and ADAS functionalities. The partnership will also leverage HERE's speed limit data to support the European Union's Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) requirements, ensuring that Firefly EVs comply with local regulations. Additionally, through HERE's partnership with Telenav Inc., Firefly will integrate a suite of HERE location services, providing real-time traffic updates and enhancing the digital cockpit and navigation experience tailored for EVs.

Chris Chen, Vice President of Global Business Development at NIO, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, "To bring firefly to Europe, we needed to collaborate with a partner who understands the complexities of global mobility. HERE is a trusted partner, providing us with the high-quality, automotive-grade location technology required to meet international safety and regulatory standards. The partnership is expected to pave the way for Firefly's upcoming launch in Europe, with plans to enter about 20 overseas markets by the end of 2025. The right-hand drive version of Firefly is set to be ready by October, with initial availability in markets including the UK and Southeast Asia [1].
