Polling for the Nilambur Assembly constituency byelection in Kerala will take place on June 19 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The notification was issued on Monday, and the last date for filing nomination papers is June 2. EVM randomization is scheduled for May 31. Polling will conclude on June 23, and all procedures will be completed by June 25. Candidates can use the Suvidha portal for approval for rallies and meetings.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the byelection for the Nilambur Assembly Constituency in Kerala will be held on June 19, 2025. The Model Code of Conduct has been enforced in the Malappuram district, as per the existing ECI guidelines [1].

The notification for the bypoll was issued on May 26, with the last date for filing nomination papers set for June 2. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on June 3, and the deadline for withdrawing nominations is June 5. The votes will be counted on June 23 [1].

The byelection has been necessitated by the resignation of Independent MLA P.V. Anvar, who had earlier extended support to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) for the upcoming bypoll. However, he later exerted pressure regarding the candidate selection [2].

The Nilambur Assembly Constituency has a total of 232,384 voters, including 118,889 female voters, 113,486 male voters, and nine third gender voters. There are 374 overseas electors as well [1].

The UDF has launched its campaign for the bypoll, with candidate Aryadan Shoukath visiting the grave of his father and praying there. Shoukath claimed that the UDF is united and will win Nilambur with a big margin. He also criticized the CPI(M) for not announcing its candidate yet [2].

The Nilambur assembly seat falls within the Wayanad Parliament constituency and became vacant following Anvar's resignation due to his differences with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on various issues [2].

The polling will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 19, with the results expected to be announced on June 23. Candidates can use the Suvidha portal for approval for rallies and meetings [3].
