The Dutch government on Thursday announced a collaboration with Nvidia (NVDA.US) to advance a potential AI infrastructure build-out, providing the necessary hardware and technical know-how for the facility. As part of the EU's push for a European digital economy, the Netherlands plans to build a new facility that will allow AI "supercomputers" to be developed. The government has already earmarked 204.5 million euros (US$21 million) for the project last year, and plans to use European subsidy funds to further support the project. The minister of economic affairs, Dijkjaars Dekker, said the agreement with Nvidia significantly increased the chances of the project's success, but did not reveal more details about the cooperation. He emphasized: "The competition is fierce, the whole world is fighting for this technology. However, this deal undoubtedly brings us closer to our goal of establishing an AI facility in the Netherlands."
