Oslo, Norway - Nel ASA, a leading pure play hydrogen technology company, has secured another significant contract, this time for a 10 MW purchase order from Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering & Construction Group ('Samsung C&T'). This order, valued at approximately EUR 5 million, signals a continued strategic partnership between the two companies in the burgeoning hydrogen industry.

The first purchase order, signed earlier this year, was for an off-grid project based on solar power. This latest deal, however, marks a significant milestone for Samsung C&T in Korea, as it represents the country's first hydrogen production project using nuclear power. This innovative approach, known as 'pink hydrogen,' aims to utilize excess nuclear energy generation, increasing overall energy efficiency.

Håkon Volldal, President and CEO of Nel ASA, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "Samsung C&T has ambitious plans in the hydrogen industry, and we are pleased to have been selected again to deliver the electrolyser for this exciting and meaningful project." Samsung C&T, with its global engineering, procurement, and construction expertise, shares this optimism, as Byung Soo Lee, the company's Head of Energy Solution Business Unit, acknowledged, "There is no doubt that Nel's technology can meet our expectation. We are thrilled to partner with Nel again in pink hydrogen production project."

The firm purchase order encompasses alkaline stacks and balance-of-stacks (BoS), with the electrodes to be produced in Nel's state-of-the-art, fully automated electrolyser production line in Herøya, Norway. This facility, the world's first of its kind, ensures high-quality and standardized products, enabling mass production and economies of scale.

The partnership between Nel ASA and Samsung C&T underscores the growing demand for reliable water electrolysis facilities in the energy transition business portfolio. As Samsung C&T continues to strengthen its commitment to clean hydrogen, this collaboration positions Nel ASA as a key player in South Korea's burgeoning green hydrogen market.

With a history tracing back to 1927, Nel ASA has established itself as a leading pure play hydrogen technology company, specializing in electrolyser technology for renewable hydrogen production and hydrogen fueling equipment. The company's product offerings are key enablers for a green hydrogen economy, making it possible to decarbonize various industries such as transportation, refining, steel, and ammonia.

As the global hydrogen market continues to evolve, this strategic partnership between Nel ASA and Samsung C&T highlights the growing importance of reliable electrolysis technology in driving the clean energy transition. With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, both companies are well-positioned to capitalize on the emerging opportunities in the hydrogen industry.

In conclusion, Nel ASA's 10 MW purchase order from Samsung C&T signifies a significant step forward in the burgeoning hydrogen market. This partnership, driven by mutual trust and a shared commitment to clean energy, underscores the growing demand for reliable electrolysis technology and the potential for nuclear-powered hydrogen production. As Nel ASA continues to deliver cutting-edge technology, it solidifies its position as a key player in the global hydrogen industry, driving innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
