Nebius Is Up 161% YTD. Take Profits Before Aug. 12, or Rotate to Cloudflare, CoreWeave, and Snowflake?

Nebius' big run makes this a timing decision
Nebius has turned into a classic post-surge positioning problem. After a 161.62% 2026 gain, the easiest upside is likely behind it. The stock is still below its June peak and well below its 52-week high, so the business itself is not the issue. The issue is what the market likely needs next.
That setup changes going into Aug. 12 before market open.
The operating case is still strong. NebiusNBIS-- reported Q1 revenue of $399.0 million, up 684% year over year, and moved from an adjusted EBITDA loss of $53.7 million a year ago to adjusted EBITDA of $129.5 million. Management also said demand continued to exceed supply. That is real business strength.
But after a move this large, the market usually demands more than confirmation of what investors already know. Strong execution can still work, yet expectation risk rises sharply when a stock has already run this far. For current holders, next week's report is the clearest chance to either lock in gains or prove the rally still has room to extend.
Cloudflare is getting the rotation bid
If investors start moving away from Nebius just before earnings, one logical destination is software and distribution names that do not look like pure compute or power trades. Right now, that rotation is showing up most clearly in CloudflareNET--.
Why Cloudflare is outperforming
On a day the NASDAQ 100 fell 1.3%, Cloudflare shares still rose 9% in midday trading to about $269 and traded near a fresh 52-week high. More importantly, the outperformance was not broad-based across AI-cloud names. In that same session, SnowflakeSNOW-- gained 3%, while Oracle fell 2% and CoreWeaveCRWV-- fell 4%.
That suggests investors are not simply buying the word "AI." They are leaning toward a layer of the stack tied more closely to development workflow and traffic distribution than to raw compute scarcity.
Why the market is rewarding that shift
The market is responding to a different ownership model. Scotiabank's upgrade centered on Cloudflare's Workers platform becoming a runtime for new AI application development. The broader bull case is that distribution plus developer exposure can hold up better than pure GPU exposure when sentiment starts to crack.
That is a more selective thesis than chasing infrastructure at any price. The trade-off is valuation. If the agentic-AI narrative cools, Cloudflare's multiple can still disappoint. But today's tape suggests investors would rather pay for software leverage than keep chasing only compute scarcity.
CoreWeave and Snowflake show how investors are splitting the AI trade
Cloudflare may be the cleanest software rotation, but CoreWeave and Snowflake show that investors are not abandoning AI infrastructure. They are just choosing different ownership points.
CoreWeave is still the scarcity trade
CoreWeave remains the highest-beta way to own GPU scarcity. Management said revenue backlog reaching nearly $100 billion, the company has surpassed 1 GW of active power, and it is aiming for more than 8 GW by 2030. That keeps CoreWeave tied directly to the capital-intensive race to build and secure AI capacity.

Snowflake is the enterprise data-control trade
Snowflake is a different path. The recent move is tied to the idea that enterprises want one place to run AI on top of existing data. That momentum has been strong: Snowflake is up roughly 51% in the past month after a breakout tied to that thesis.
The valuation debate is more pronounced here. Even after the run, Snowflake remains a debate stock. Bulls see a re-rating toward a strategic data layer for AI. Bears see a rally that may have moved faster than certainty around returns.
How I would rank the rotation today
Nebius still has one near-term decision: trim before Aug. 12 before market open, or keep a smaller position only if the report adds something stronger than a story the market already understands.
First choice: Cloudflare
Cloudflare is the first choice because it is already showing relative strength on a weak day for growth tech. On a session when the NASDAQ 100 fell 1.3%, Cloudflare was up 9% in midday trading and near a fresh 52-week high, while peers were flatter or red.
Second choice: CoreWeave
CoreWeave is the scarcest infrastructure bet in the group. Management said revenue backlog reaching nearly $100 billion, it has surpassed 1 GW of active power, and it is aiming for more than 8 GW by 2030. It is also the most volatile way to express the same AI demand theme.
Third choice: Snowflake
Snowflake is third because the reversal has been genuine, with the stock up roughly 51% in the past month, but valuation is likely to be judged faster than in the other two names.
What would change the ranking
Holding a reduced Nebius position only makes sense if next week adds new proof that demand, capacity, or execution is improving beyond what the rally already reflects.
Revisiting Cloudflare, CoreWeave, or Snowflake as the better use of capital would make sense if that relative-strength leadership continues or if Nebius fails to move the needle beyond its already-strong operating story.
