The Musk Mafia: How the World's Richest Man Quietly Reshape the U.S. with His Elite Crew

Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest individual, is playing an increasingly important role on the American political stage through his various businesses and carefully cultivated network of allies.

Since wholeheartedly supporting Donald Trump's presidential campaign, Musk's influence in U.S. politics has steadily expanded. Last week, he was reportedly involved in Trump's call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Furthermore, Musk has stated that he plans to focus on reforming the U.S. government, aiming to cut at least $2 trillion from the budget and massively downsize the bloated bureaucracy.

From being a campaign supporter of President Trump to now inserting his own people into the incoming administration, Musk's A-team is quietly reshaping the face of the U.S. government.

Musk's A-team: His Brain Trust

Musk's ability to establish a foothold in the political realm is owed to the support of an elite team. This A-team not only includes executives from his own companies, but also a cadre of influential figures from Silicon Valley and the financial sector.

They are united by a deep commitment to Musk's vision and goals, and are willing to provide support in achieving his political objectives.

Firstly, Musk's right-hand man in corporate restructuring and layoffs is Steve Davis, the president of The Boring Company. Davis personally oversaw the elimination of 80% of the workforce at Twitter during the transition period after Musk's acquisition, even living in the Twitter headquarters dormitories with his newborn child. Davis' core skill lies in making ruthless decisions to swiftly achieve corporate objectives.

Now, Davis has been assigned to Musk's America Pac lobbying group, where he has provided detailed feedback on voter samples in Pennsylvania.

Another key figure is Omead Afshar. Afshar helped oversee the construction of Tesla's Texas gigafactory and was involved in the X layoffs. As a Financial Times source stated, Afshar will find a way to get the hard work done, even if it doesn't seem to make much sense. Musk really likes him, he's a hatchet man.

In addition to corporate executives, Musk's A-team includes influential figures in politics and finance, such as David Sacks and Jason Calacanis, who are frequent voices on Musk's social media platform, X.

The Intersection of Business and Politics

The tight integration of Musk's business empire and his political influence is a key factor in his ability to exert influence within the government.

For example, Musk has a close relationship with the well-known hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, and the two often exchange views on tax and immigration policy issues.

Furthermore, Jared Birchall, the head of Musk's family office, plays a crucial role. He holds senior positions at Boring, xAI, and Neuralink. Birchall's experience at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley has provided invaluable assistance to Musk in areas such as lobbying and financing.

Musk's business dealings with the U.S. government, particularly related to SpaceX projects, have been a focus of public attention. In his victory speech last Wednesday, Trump even mentioned how SpaceX's Starship would be caught by a mechanical arm like you're holding your little baby at night.

According to The New York Times, Musk has also requested that Trump consider appointing two SpaceX employees to positions within the Department of Defense.

In addition to achieving his goal of reaching Mars, Musk's short-term objective is to expand his network of 6,000 low-Earth orbit satellites, which make up the Starlink network.

Perhaps with Trump's support, Musk's rhetoric and actions will continue to gain increasing influence in the American political landscape.
