Moving iMage Technologies (MITQ) has announced significant upgrades to four Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations in Texas, further cementing its role in the cinema technology market. The projects involve the installation of Barco SP4K laser projectors, Dolby Atmos sound systems, and various proprietary MiT products, aiming to enhance the viewer experience with advanced visuals and audio.
The upgrade projects, scheduled for completion in the coming months, include the installation of Barco SP4K laser projectors and Dolby Atmos immersive audio systems at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema's Lakeline and Mueller locations in Austin, as well as Stone Oak and Park North locations in San Antonio. These installations are part of a broader effort to incorporate state-of-the-art technology into the cinemas, following successful previous projects at Alamo's Dallas and Indianapolis locations.
The comprehensive upgrade also includes Barco ICMP Alchemy servers for enhanced content management, HDR technology implementation in one auditorium per location, and several proprietary MiT products, including S5 projector pedestals, IMC25 Automation systems, and IS-30 AC power conditioning equipment. These upgrades demonstrate MITQ's expanded value proposition, moving beyond mere equipment reselling into full-service cinema technology integration.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema's Chief Development Officer, Chris Drazba, expressed satisfaction with the quality of advice and service received from the Moving iMage team, highlighting their attention to detail and ability to keep projects running smoothly. This endorsement underscores the deepening relationship between MITQ and Alamo Drafthouse, which has been a long-term partner in delivering immersive experiences to customers.
For investors, this announcement signals continued business momentum for MITQ, with multiple revenue streams including hardware, integration services, and proprietary products. The technology refresh market represents significant opportunity as cinemas continue upgrading to premium formats to differentiate from home viewing experiences.
