Mother sentenced to 12 years in prison for strangling 8-year-old son to death in Rockhampton

Louwanna Thyra Goltz, a 40-year-old mother, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the manslaughter of her 8-year-old son, Zion Ziggy Sean Goltz. The boy was found dead in Goltz's home in Rockhampton, Australia, after police conducted a welfare check. Goltz had been drug-induced and psychotic at the time of the killing, and had been reunited with her son from foster care just 18 months prior. Zion's grandmother had voiced concerns to child safety about the reunification, but they were largely ignored.
